Good dental health is built on small daily habits, not occasional fixes.
Here are five simple ones worth building into your routine.
- Brush twice, but gently
Brushing hard does not clean better — it wears down enamel and irritates
the gums. Use a soft-bristled brush and light, circular strokes for two
minutes, morning and night. - Clean between your teeth
A toothbrush reaches about 60% of each tooth’s surface. Floss or an
interdental brush covers the rest, which is where most cavities between
teeth begin. - Rinse with water after sweet or acidic food
Coffee, citrus, and sugary snacks leave acid on the enamel. Rinsing with
plain water helps clear it. Wait 30 minutes before brushing so you are
not scrubbing softened enamel. - Do not ignore bleeding gums
Gums that bleed while brushing are usually inflamed, not “sensitive.”
It is one of the earliest and most treatable warning signs, and worth
mentioning at your next visit. - Get a check-up twice a year
Most dental problems are painless in their early stages. A routine
check-up catches them while treatment is still simple.
